Submit Petition

Beneficiary: Get Your Documents to the Petitioner

Complete the previous steps and send your documents and photos to your American fiance(e) for the petition package.

Petitioner: Type the Cover Letter

Although optional, the cover letter contains the mini-table of contents for your petition making it appear formal. This will help government officers to easily identify the nature of the papers you are submitting.

Follow the example in this sample I-129F cover letter and modify it to fit your own submission. Indicate the date. Write your name at the bottom and sign it.

Petitioner: Prepare Application Fee

You may send a personal check to be able to track when it gets encashed. A money order is another option. Give the correct amount of $340 so the start of the government processing is smooth. Any petition will be likely rejected if the inappropriate amount is sent. Make the check out to: U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Petitioner: Gather All Documents

Below is the list of documents that will compose your package:

Petition Application

Proof of U.S. Citizen

Biographic Information

Documents Demonstrating Intent to Marry

Evidence of Meeting in Person

Do not staple or bind the petition package with anything permanent
Keep everything together with a paperclip.

Sign your Form G-325A and I-129F and write the date.
Check your fiance(e)'s form to see if it has their signature.
Make sure that all photos have names on the back.

Petitioner: Make Two Copies of the Package

Once again, check if everything is dated and signed. Make two exact copies of the original petition the way you have put everything together - including the application fee.
Keep all your original receipts/tickets and other evidence of meeting until your petition is approved. After approval, you can send the evidence. along with an exact copy of the petition, to your beneficiary for the interview.

Petitioner: Mail the Package

There are two major service centers that process fiance(e) visa petitions. Look up the direct filing addresses for Form I-129F based on where you live.
You may send your petition through the United States Postal Services (USPS) or through private couriers such as FedEx, UPS, or DHL. Discard all other folders and envelopes you have used while organizing the petition. Place only the complete petition, paper clipped together, inside the mailing envelope provided by your selected courier.

The order of procedures in this site is designed to aid you step-by-step. Completing the package of the petition should be just easy now if you have prepared everything gradually, one at a time.

Patiently and optimistically hang on for the government's reply to your petition.
